He left Part 5 (Gen 30:31-31:9)
31 He said,
“What shall I give you?” Jacob said, “You shall not give me anything. If you
will do this for me, I will again pasture your flock and keep it.
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” HEB 13:5
32 let me pass through all your flock today, removing from it every speckled and spotted sheep and every black lamb, and the spotted and speckled among the goats, and they shall be my wages.”
Speckled—Spotted with small specks like dots Old French poynture; speckled.
Spotted—The word has the same meaning as “patches”—wide spots.
Black—Dark, somewhat reddish, old French rouge. In the language of the Mishnah (Bava Batra 5:6): “If he sells it as reddish-dark coloured (שְׁחַמְתִּית) and it is found to be white”—a statement made in reference to grain.
And they shall be my wages—Those which from now on will be born speckled and
spotted among the goats and the black shall be mine. Those that are at present
such set them apart and place them in charge of your sons, so that you may not
be able to say to me about those that will be born in the future, “These were
there originally,” and furthermore, so that you may not be able to say to me, “Because
of the male animals that are speckled and spotted the females will give birth
from now onwards to offspring of their own kind.”

35 But that day Laban removed the male goats that were striped and spotted, and all the female goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white on it, and every lamb that was black, and put them in the charge of his sons.
But that day Laban removed, etc.
The male goats—Heb.
הַתְּיָשִׁים, male goats.

Every one that had white on it—Every one that had white patches on it.
And put them i.e. Laban, put them in the charge of his sons.
37 Then Jacob took fresh sticks of poplar and almond and plane trees, and peeled white streaks in them, exposing the white of the sticks.
Fresh—When it was fresh.
Sticks of poplar—A tree that is called לִבְנֶה—just as you say (Hos 4:13) “under oak, poplars (וְלִבְנֶה)” I think it is what is called in Old French trenble, poplar, which is white.
And almond—He also took sticks of לוּז, a tree upon which small nuts grow Old French colder, almond.
And plane trees is Old French chastenier, plane trees.
Streaks—Many peelings so that he gave it the appearence of being striped.
Exposing the white—When he peeled it the white in it became uncovered and visible in the places where it was peeled.

1 Now Jacob heard that the
sons of Laban were saying, “Jacob has taken all that was our father's, and from what was
our father's he has gained all this wealth.”
He has gained—i.e. gathered, as (1Sa 14:48) “And he gathered (וַיַעַשׂ) an army, and he struck the Amalekites.”
You must tell my father of all my honor in Egypt, and of all that you have seen. Hurry and bring my father down here. GEN 45:13
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. MAT 4:8
he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, 1TI 6:4
For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. TIT 3:3

“All
flesh is like grass
and
all its glory like the flower of grass.
The
grass withers,
and
the flower falls,” 1PE 1:24
8 If he said, “The spotted shall be your wages,” then all the flock bore spotted; and if he said, “The striped shall be your wages,” then all the flock bore striped.
9 Thus God has taken away the livestock of your father and given them to me.
