He appeared Part 6 (Gen 21:23-32)
23 Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me or with my descendants or with my posterity, but as I have dealt kindly with you, so you will deal with me and with the land where you have sojourned.
Or with my descendants or with my posterity—Thus far extends a man’s pity for his descendants (Bereishit Rabbah 54:2).
But as I have dealt kindly with you, so you will deal with me—When I said to you (Gen 20:15): “Behold, my land is before you.”
Chullin 60b:12
The verse teaches the
following: Since Abimelech, king
of the Philistines, administered an oath to Abraham: “That you will not deal falsely with me or with
my son or with my grandson” (Gen 21:23), the Jewish people
were prohibited from conquering the land of the Philistines until four
generations had passed. Therefore, the holy One, blessed be he, said: Let
the Caphtorim come and remove the land from the Avvim,
who are the same as the Philistines, and let Israel come and remove
it from the Caphtorim, circumventing the prohibition.

Samson’s parents were
being told that the oath of Abimelech, king of the Philistines, was
negated, as it is written that Abimelech said to our forefather Abraham:
“Now therefore swear to me here by God that
you will not deal falsely with me or with my descendants or with my posterity,
but according to the kindness that I
have done unto you, you shall do to me and with the land where you have
sojourned” (Gen 21:23). The oath of
the descendants of Abraham was no longer binding since the Philistines broke
their oath by subjugating the Jewish people.
22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted my hand to the Lord, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth,
